Make a Tax Deductible Donation

Underbelly Public Arts Lab + Festival would not be possible without its wonderful collection of partners and supporters. But we need your help. This event is finananced by Rinse Out Inc (see the 'About' section for more details) and is run on a shoestring! Every small contribution from the wider community will make a difference.

This is your chance to be involved in Sydney's bustling underground arts scene on a personal level, and to participate in the development of new Australian work. We really hope you're as excited by this opportunity as we are.

By donating, you will be acknowledged on our website as an Underbelly Friend, Community Patron (for businesses) or an Angel Patron (with a donation of $5000 or more). Donors will also be invited to leave a message on our Giving Tree, an installation designed by one of our artists. The Giving Tree will grow with every donation and we hope to reach the roof of Carriageworks by the end of the Festival!

Why we need your help

One of our goals is to make Underbelly an accessible and affordable event, open to all ages and incomes. We keep the tickets cheap for the festival and offer a free lab to visitors. But we have huge costs to cover.

Underbelly Public Arts Lab + Festival runs over 10 days and supports over 40 multi-disciplinary projects from collectives of artists. Our production requirements, insurance and venue staffing costs are extensive and we want to be able to help artists with the neccessariy equipment and materials that they need to make their projects happen!

By donating you can help cover some of these costs such as projector hire ($300 per day and we need 35 of them!!!); venue staffing costs ($35,000), insurance ($13,500); production and tech ($20,000) and materials for artists ($6,000). We are working around the clock to secure in-kind support of services, materials and equipment from local businesses, and we are also generously supported by City of Sydney Council. But we still have a number of hard costs to meet in order to make this event happen.

We are not seeking support for salaries for the artists themselves. Any profits garnered through ticket sales will be distributed as a co-operative venture.

By making a donation you not only get to support Underbelly, a festival that plays an important role in furthering Sydney's cultural environment, but you also get a tax deductible receipt for your gift. How does it work?

We have joined forces with AbaF - Australia Business Arts Foundation and registered with The Australia Cultural Fund. AbaF established this fund to encourage people to donate to the arts and to enable artists to benefit from this generosity. All donations are made to the Australia Business Arts Foundation which then considers donor preferences when allocating grants to arts organisations. In the past three years more than $2 million has been donated to AbaF and granted to 270 artists and cultural organisations. We believe that this program will further link our event with the greater community of arts supporters.
